We are delighted to say that our Late Harvest Gewurztraminer has been awarded another gold medal. This time at the prestigious Spiegelau Wine Awards held in Blenheim (South Island New Zealand). Our 2012 Sauvignon Blanc also picked up a silver medal which is excellent news.
The judges were led by Mike DeGaris and New Zealand wine reviewer Raymond Chan. The judges were served tasting "flights" of up to 40 wines in one hit to sample and mark out of 20.
More than 1000 wines were entered this year, on par with last year's figures.
Emma Jenkins demystifies the art of cellering wine.
With her advice it needn't be expensive or nor a lesson in patience.
19. 2011 Osawa Late Harvest Gewurztraminer,
$28 (375ml). Aromatic, lusciously sweet and
altogether rather decadent, you’ll be pleased
to have a few bottles of dessert wine tucked
away when they’re as smart as this. Very well
balanced with a lively citrus lift on the finish.
A very strong lineup, featuring a trio of outstanding dessert wines; and two memorable Hwkes's Bay syrahs.
Michael awarded the Late Harvest and Noble Gewurztraminers 5 stars each and the 2011 Prestige Collection Chardonnay received 4.5 stars.
Our 2011 Prestige Collection Chardonnay has come top in the WineNZ tasting. This is our first front cover and we are delighted.
